Highway 206 winding up Mt. Spokane in eastern Washington as the tamaracks speckle the mountainside with their unique transition into gold. In summer, the tamarack (or larch) appears no different from any other evergreen. But when the temperature drops in October, the needles turn gold and color the mountain in dazzling yellow & green.
